Solar Energy: TotalEnergies Is Among the Global Leaders in 2023
With a portfolio representing total capacity of 41.3 gigawatts (GW) in 2023, including 12 GW already in operation, TotalEnergies is a major player in the solar power market.
In its latest report, research consultancy Mercom confirms our leadership position and highlights the scale and diversity of TotalEnergies’ projects worldwide.
For several years now, TotalEnergies has been investing heavily in solar energy, with stakes in major projects around the world, including the 800-MW Al Kharsaah solar power plant in Qatar.
The Company allocates 5 billion dollars annually to develop renewable and low-carbon energies and fosters global alliances with key players like Adani Green Energy Ltd. in India, Casa dos Ventos Energias Renováveis in Brazil, and Clearway Energy Group in the USA, to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.
With a total capacity of 41.3 GW, in the Mercom’s report, TotalEnergies emerged as the top solar PV developer in the world based on its operational, under-construction, and awarded (PPA-contracted) projects.
Solar power projects are just one example of the many ways in which TotalEnergies is implementing its energy transition. The Company continues to look for opportunities to further consolidate its role as a world leader in the solar segment.
TotalEnergies plans to pursue the expansion of its power generation business, with the aim of tripling its electricity production from 33 TWh to more than 100 TWh by 2030.
