TotalEnergies and Stellantis strengthen their engine oil partnership

Stellantis

Modern engines have precise requirements. Engine oil needs to be compatible with the engine’s design, emission-reduction systems, turbocharger, hybrid powertrains, oil change intervals, and the conditions in which the vehicle is used. That is why manufacturer specifications have become just as important as viscosity grade.

In this context, the new phase of cooperation between TotalEnergies and Stellantis brings an important change for drivers, as well as for mechanics, retailers, and engine oil distributors. It introduces a unified oil range, new common specifications, and a simpler way to choose the right engine oil for vehicles within the Stellantis Group.

A Partnership Spanning More Than Half a Century

The collaboration between TotalEnergies and the vehicle brands that are now part of Stellantis began in 1968, when the first partnership agreement was signed with Citroën. Over the following decades, it expanded to other brands of the former PSA Group, primarily Peugeot and DS Automobiles, and in 2021 to Opel and Vauxhall.

As of January 1, 2026, the partnership is entering a new phase, covering all ten Stellantis brands in Europe: Citroën, Peugeot, DS Automobiles, Opel, Vauxhall, Abarth, Jeep, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, and Fiat.

The Four Pillars of the Partnership

The new phase of cooperation between TotalEnergies and Stellantis is built on four key areas: research and development, motorsport collaboration, exclusive recommendation, and sustainability.

The Most Important Technical Change: New FPW Specifications

One of the most important changes is the introduction of new, harmonized Stellantis FPW specifications from 2026. Until recently, different vehicle brands within the Stellantis Group used different technical designations. For example, Peugeot and Citroën used PSA B71 specifications, Fiat used its own 9.55535 specifications, and Opel used OV designations. In practice, this meant more standards, more tables, and more uncertainty when choosing the right oil.

The new FPW specifications introduce a common system of designations, such as:

FPW 9.55535/01
FPW 9.55535/02
FPW 9.55535/03
FPW 9.55535/04
FPW 9.55535/09
FPW 9.55535/10

Simply put, the previously separate requirements of different brands are now being aligned through a more structured Stellantis system.

New Quartz Engine Oils with the Mopar Label

Quartz motorna ulja sa oznakom Mopar

As part of the expanded partnership, two co-branded engine oil ranges are being introduced: TotalEnergies Quartz Mopar and TotalEnergies Quartz EV3R Mopar.

Both ranges have been developed for vehicles within the Stellantis Group in line with the new FPW specifications. Products bearing the Mopar label are recommended for maintenance within the Stellantis service network as Original Equipment (OE) products, and are required to maintain the vehicle warranty.

What Does Quartz EV3R Mopar Stand for?

TotalEnergies Quartz EV3R Mopar represents the most advanced innovation in lubricants, combining modern technology with high-quality Regenerated Base Oils (RRBO). The result is a new generation of engine oils that provides exceptional protection and long-lasting performance while reducing the use of newly sourced raw materials.

The EV3R approach is based on three principles:

Reduce — reducing the use of new resources;
Reuse — reusing what can be returned to the cycle;
Regenerate — regenerating used oil and turning it into a high-quality base oil.

The essence of the Quartz EV3R Mopar range is to offer engine oils that meet the technical requirements for engine protection while taking a more responsible approach to raw materials and waste generation.

What the Expanded Partnership Means for the Market

For drivers, this partnership means greater confidence in vehicle maintenance, as it ensures the use of engine oils that are technically aligned with the requirements of the Stellantis Group and officially recommended for its service network. If a vehicle belongs to the Stellantis Group, whether it is a Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, DS, Lancia, Abarth, or Vauxhall, the choice of oil should be checked according to the specific model and engin
