Brake fluid handling and shelf life

Brake fluid should be stored in its original container in a clean, dry location at or below room temperature preferably separated from similar storage of petroleum products or fluid materials used for maintenance purposes.

Always use the original packaging, which should be tightly sealed to avoid water absorption and clearly marked. Under good conditions of storage, new, unopened containers of brake fluid, with their foil seal intact, will have the following shelf life:
- Small packs: 2 years,
- Drums (stored under a cover, protected from the light, positioned on the side): 3 years,
- Bulk (stored in stainless steel tank with a nitrogen blanket): 2 years.

Once opened, the content must be used as soon as possible (within few months).
